MARCUS – Mitigation and Adaptation in Resilient Coastal and estUarine integrated unitS

SPOKE VS1 - Water

Description and objectives

The MARCUS project has the following objectives:

  • To study the interaction between waves and currents at the mouth of a river in order to understand the physical processes that cause flooding triggered by multiple factors
  • To simulate the interaction between the various factors acting at a river mouth in order to analyze different risk scenarios
  • Create standard scenarios that can be applied to any estuary to determine the level of risk and the actions to be taken to mitigate it
  • Study the interactions between the river and the sea in a variety of estuarine environments
