TS2 - Multi-Risk Resilience of Critical Infrastructures
Descrizione e obiettivi
Rainfall-induced landslides are frequent in Italy, where they cause severe damage to people, buildings, and infrastructures. Effective risk reduction associated with rainfall-induced landslides requires accurate data and reliable forecasting tools.
With regard to data, PROFIT (Probabilistic Forecasting of Rainfall-Induced Landslides in Italy) expands ITALICA, the Italian Rainfall-Induced Landslides Catalogue. The expansion involves updating the catalogue to 2023 and adding new data related to the hydro-meteorological triggering conditions of landslides, as well as the geo-hydro-morphological characteristics of areas typically affected by rainfall-induced landslides.
With regard to forecasting tools, PROFIT tests four predictive models in representative geographical areas and configurations, and proposes a strategy to integrate their forecasts into a single predictive tool, designed to be easily used by administrators and decision-makers.
PROFIT also proposes a methodology for assessing the hazard posed by rainfall-induced landslides along transportation infrastructures and tests it in representative areas.
