Savona March 10-11 2026 – “Dialogue for resilience: science, institutions and communities for risk reduction and adaptation to climate change”
March 10 - March 11
The RETURN Foundation invites researchers affiliated with the project to participate in the event ‘Dialogue for Resilience: Science, Institutions and Communities for Risk Reduction and Climate Adaptation,’ a public event concluding Spoke 7 – TS3: Resilient Communities: Social, Economic, Legal and Cultural Dimensions, to be held in Savona on 10-11 March 2026 at the Priamar Fortress.
The event aims to create a space for structured dialogue between science, institutions, businesses, communities and professionals, with the aim of consolidating and sharing a common vision on resilience to natural risks and climate change.
The current context requires integrated approaches to risk reduction, emergency management, preventive planning and adaptation to climate change. The knowledge produced by the RETURN project — including methodologies, decision-making tools, participatory practices, risk perception analysis and legal approaches — provides the basis for building a shared path towards systemic resilience.
The event will be attended by around 100 experts, including representatives of institutional stakeholders, economic and associative actors, members of the scientific community and professionals (the latter will receive Professional Training Credits).
The agenda for the two days includes:
Opening report on the structure and development of the RETURN project, which is coming to an end.
Thematic sessions opened by external keynote speakers on four topics:
- Decisions and tools for multi-risk management: effectiveness of interventions beyond costs/benefits.
- Policies, institutions and co-design: communities at the heart of risk reduction.
- Resilient communities: psychological and behavioural factors, communication and education for informed decisions
- Cultural heritage and resilience: multi-risk assessments and role in territorial systems
- Concluding round table with institutional stakeholders to offer an integrated reading of the results and future challenges.
Operational discussion with territorial and national stakeholders, through structured thematic round tables divided into two sessions
The concept of resilience, in its various forms
Discussion on tools and methodologies developed by the project and partners
The outputs of the round tables will be integrated into the drafting of a Position Paper on resilience.
