Description and objectives

The CoPe (Convection Permitting) project aims to collect available simulations from Convection Permitting Models (CPMs), starting from the FPS Convection ensemble, in order to provide a set of CPMs remapped onto a regular grid covering the national territory. Additionally, gridded reanalysis products will be included and used, together with observed station data, for the validation of the CPM ensemble.

Within CoPe, the project also aims to correct the CPM ensemble, accounting both for systematic model errors and for additional distortions due to the specific forcing GCM, using standard bias-correction techniques as well as more advanced approaches based on machine learning.
