SPOKE DS8 - Science underpinning climate services for risk mitigation and adaptation
Description and objectives
The present project proposal aims to develop a web application consisting of a user interface (front end) and a data storage system for geospatial and numerical data (back end), designed, structured, and implemented for the management, storage, visualization, analysis, processing, querying, and sharing of hydrometeorological and hydrological data.
The application, generally classifiable as a webGIS, will allow users to access data on precipitation, temperature, water levels, and flow rates (as well as any other spatially distributed or point-based variables representative of hydro-climatic processes within Italian river basins). It will also enable users to upload new data and perform analytical, interpretative, or processing operations—both geospatial and statistical.
The system will thus make it possible to generate scenarios based on data series and informational layers from archival datasets (historical series), from hydro-climatic monitoring networks, or from hydrological and statistical models used to produce nowcasting and/or forecasting scenarios (trends, simulations, and hydro-statistical projections).
