Description and objectives

The objective is the creation of an updated hydrological database that includes data collected from various existing and available monitoring networks across Southern Italy.

This database will be fundamental for the characterization of the hydrological balance at the district scale and will be made available for consultation through a WebGIS platform and for download—upon registration—in ASCII-Grid format.

The design and population phase of the database will be preceded by the collection of all available and measured hydrological data from Southern Italy. The collected data will need to be analyzed, validated, and normalized before being stored. For all data not available in digital format, scanning and indexed archiving will be carried out to allow consultation and download. Spatialization algorithms will be used to generate any missing data.

The WebGIS will serve as the main tool for the visualization of all acquired data. The user interface will be designed with particular attention to ensure a smooth and intuitive experience, making the platform more accessible and user-friendly.

A basic structure will be set up for the map layers and for the inclusion of new thematic layers and updated data. The diversification of layers will allow users to obtain a more comprehensive and detailed view.
