We invite you to express your interest by May 26, 2025, by filling out this form.

An online presentation of the Fondazione Return Academy is scheduled for Friday, May 23 · 1:30 – 2:00 PM.

Online meet

Participation is free of charge and limited to a maximum of 20 selected participants.

Premise

In the landscape of science communication—once dominated by books and lectures—new formats have emerged, opening up unexplored opportunities and scenarios. In this context, updating researchers’ communication skills is key to designing new forms of public engagement with science and revitalizing the transmission of knowledge beyond university classrooms.

The “new media” form an ecosystem of rapidly evolving platforms and languages. Social media, newsletters, and podcasts are now among the main tools available to those who wish to share their research activity, even outside the scientific community.

Fondazione Return aims to train a group of researchers, experts, and professionals in the environmental sector, united by the desire to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the information shared with the public. The mission is to contribute to a more informed and resilient society, capable of facing environmental challenges with knowledge and awareness.

Will Media and Chora Media have launched the New Media Academy—a school where participants can learn Digital Journalism, Storytelling, and Podcasting directly from the professionals at Will and Chora Media, who use these tools daily to connect with millions of users across all platforms. In this context, collaborations have emerged with companies, universities, foundations, and associations, offering tailored educational programs designed around the specific training needs of each organization.

Academy

The Academy proposal in collaboration with Fondazione Return aims to generate an innovative intervention model. The Academy is open to a maximum of 20 participants.

The proposed training model is hybrid (in-person in Milan and online) and is strongly characterized by a blend of theoretical lessons, hands-on workshops, and practical exercises. Each participant will develop their own science communication project idea, starting from their scientific activity and based on the three formats proposed during the Academy: podcast, social media, and newsletter.

The course spans a period of 2 months and includes approximately 20 hours of lessons and 20 hours of individual project work.
