On 18 March 2026, in Rome at the Civil Protection Department, the meeting “RETURN for Civil Protection: Products and Perspectives” was held, dedicated to presenting the results and development lines of the RETURN project.
The initiative represented an opportunity for direct exchange between the research system and operational institutions, with the aim of enhancing the tools and solutions developed within the project in support of risk forecasting, prevention, and management activities.
Throughout the day, several products were presented, organized along three main lines:
– Forecasting tools, including impact models, climate forcing analyses, and decision-support platforms;
– Prevention solutions, focusing on risk assessments, scenarios, and planning tools;
– Preparedness approaches, including participatory methods, guidelines, and operational tools for emergency management.
In addition, transversal project outputs were illustrated, including the training activities of the RETURN Academy and the RETURNLAND and RETURNVILLE virtual testbeds, designed to support risk simulation and management in complex contexts.
The meeting confirmed the relevance of the RETURN project as a platform integrating scientific expertise and operational needs, strengthening dialogue with the Civil Protection Department and opening new perspectives for the application of results in territorial contexts.
